Jai Swachhta Samiti
“Jai Swachhta Samiti”, an NGO for Rural Development was formed
and registered under Society Act in September, 2007 at District Fatehabad in Haryana with main
objective of serving rural population and undertake projects for Rural
Development.
The NGO has taken up many projects since then including
implementation of various policies of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, in association with
District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Sirsa and projects of National Bank for Agriculture & Rural
Development (NABARD).
The very first project in association with DRDA, Sirsa under the
leadership of Mr. Yudhbir Singh Khyalia, Additional Deputy Commissioner cum CEO of DRDA, Sirsa was Total
Sanitation Campaign (TSC) of
Department of Drinking Water & Supply (DDWS) under Ministry of Rural Development, Government of
India.
The campaign named as "Naya Saal Naya Savera" was launched on 2nd
October, 2007 with the objective to make all the 333 villages of District Sirsa as 100 % Open Defecation
Free by the end of December, 2007. The campaign was successfully completed within 90 days and
it was also published in Limca Book of Records under Development Category.
Another project in association with DRDA, Sirsa
was started in June, 2008 to form Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Swarnjayanti Gram Savrojgar
Yojna (SGSY) of
Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. Under SGSY, more than 750 Self Help Groups (SHGs) were
formed by "Jai Swachhta Samiti" within nine months of starting the project.
"Jai Swachhta Samiti" has also entered in to an agreement with NABARD to form Self Help Groups & linkage
of these SHGs with the banks and to impart Vocational Training to women from Rural Areas so that they may be
able to start their own business or may get some suitable jobs after completing the
training.
Besides, "Jai Swachhta Samiti" is also engaged in other activities
like capacity building, creating awareness among villagers about plantation, voluntary blood donation,
sanitation, women empowerment, poverty eradication etc.
