Projects of Jai Swachhta Samiti - SGSY
SWARN JAYANTI GRAM SAVROJGAR YOJNA
To eradicate poverty from villages and make their
condition financially better, another project in association with DRDA, Sirsa was started in
June, 2008 to form Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Swarnjayanti Gram Savrojgar Yojna (SGSY) of Ministry of Rural Development,
Government of India. Under SGSY, more than 750 Self Help Groups (SHGs) were formed by "Jai Swachhta
Samiti" within nine months of starting the project.
This campaign was also started in a planned manner.
The people were made aware of this program and were motivated to become self dependent by way of forming Self
Help Groups and by starting some income generating activities.
Since the team of "Jai Swachhta Samiti" is also
working for Women
Empowerment, therefore, efforts were to form Self Help
Groups that should comprise more of women and therefore targeted at first instance all those
villages where women were more active during total sanitation campaign. Those women from villages were
contacted and motivated to form SHGs.
The team of "Jai Swachhta Samiti" also
imparted training to the members of SHGs under orientation program and assisted these SHGs to maintain
proper records, to hold monthly meetings and bank linkages etc.
