Projects of Jai Swachhta Samiti - TSC
TOTAL SANITATION CAMPAIGN
The very first project undertaken by "Jai
Swachhta Samiti" since its inception was Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) of Department of Drinking Water &
Supply (DDWS) under Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, in association with DRDA, Sirsa under
the leadership of Mr. Yudhbir Singh Khyalia, Additional Deputy Commissioner cum CEO of DRDA,
Sirsa.
The campaign named as "Naya Saal Naya Savera" was launched on 2nd
October, 2007 with the objective to make all the 333 villages of District Sirsa as 100 % Open Defecation Free
by the end of December, 2007 i.e. within 90 days of starting the campaign.
For this, DRDA organized a training of trainers (TOT) program at the
time of starting the campaign. The training was given by 12 Master Trainers of "Jai Swachhta Samiti" to
around 450 motivators in batches. These motivators after training were grouped into teams at District &
Block levels and were deputed to sprcified villages under a set pattern and according to a specific
plan.
District team of "Jai Swachhta Samiti"
used to review the progress of
the campaign on regular basis and monitor the block level team.
Based on the feedback from the villages, the District Team used to visit villagers to listen to their
problems, to know their views about this campaign and to motivate them to join the
campaign.
The progress of the campaign was
reviewed & discussed with ADC on regular basis & the future course of action was planned accordingly.
The members of "Swachhta Samiti" from villages were called for district level meetings to encourage them and
share their experiences. Similarly, motivators were also called for meeting from time to time for reviewing
the progress & motivating them to do better.
The team of "Jai Swachhta Samiti" was
not only able to convince & motivate countless women & children from villages to join this campaign
but also to motivate the motivators to complete this campaign within stipulated time of 90 days
successfully.
